For English speakers who want to say up-to-date with events in Budapest and Hungary there are now several English language weeklies as well as all kinds of online content. But 15 years ago things were a bit different in Hungary.

Budapest Week was an weekly English language newspaper started by a group of young people who really didn't know much about the publishing business, but for several years managed to put out what could be considered the 'Village Voice' of Hungary.
The founding editor of the paper, Rick Bruner, says Budapest Week broke ground at a time when most start up businesses were making things up as they went along.
