Eat Feed podcast
Food Philosophy podcast
What a great medium podcasting is for people who love food and hearing about culinary traditions and the latest trends in the kitchen. I've happened upon a couple of different "foodcasts" that are both entertaining and hosted by women.
"Eat Feed", hosted by the very professional-sounding Anne Bramley, usually consists of well-produced shows that revolve around themes like what is seasonally available to eat in the fall or the history of matzoh (think 'matzoh ball soup') in the US. The interviews are well produced, but most are conducted by telephone. Anne monologues frequently with well-researched if wandering copy on what to cook/eat. This is an interesting show, but lacks any sort of 'live' radio element and doesn't make much use of sound, i.e. taking us into the kitchen and cooking a special dish, or sitting down to a particular meal. I want to hear some chopping or something.
"Food Philosophy", is hosted by the sassy, opinionated Jennifer Iannolo. The shows come out more frequently than Eat Feed and are more varied and quirky. In one show Jennifer offers suggestions for what to do/eat with your sweetheart on Valentine's Day. According to the name of the show, she presents us with her philosophy on various aspects of food, like what she feels is her entitlement to eat the controversially raised foie gras. Jennifer occasionally takes us to a meal or a wine tasting, which makes things really fun and exploits the strengths of the podcasting medium.
All in all, Food Philosophy and Eat Feed are both great podcasts that are worth a listen if you're into food.
