It's a mythical bird that is considered the father of all Hungarians. The Hungarian turul resembles a falcon and has been a symbol of the Hungarian nation since the 13th century but not without controversy. The turul was a symbol of the Hungarian fascists in the 1930s, but is also used today on the uniforms of today's democratic Hungarian military forces.
So what happens in 2005 just a few months before the elections next spring when a conservative district mayor decides to erect a memorial using this symbol without the permission of the Budapest city council?
