In my hood number 1

In the first of a series on Budapest's neighborhoods, Bianca Otero gives us some clues about District XIII.

Name: Bianca Otero

Age: 32

Profession: Journalist/Photo-Journalist

My Budapest neighborhood is: Új Lipotváros, XIII. kerület

Plusses and minuses: Wow, you know, I don't have anything negative to really say about my hood. It really has become 'my hood'.

Cool things to do: Duna Park Kávézó, ROCKKKSSSS! And the Pozsonyi vendéglő has the best Matzo ball soup. Szent István Park is great for families and just to take a stroll (I think it is one of the best parks in the city (though I do love the Károly kért), and there is my local fruit and veggie stand that I love.

A long walk along the Danube on the 'rakpart' is a sure hit and well, the Margit Sziget is actually registered as part of the XIII district. So, I have an island to include as well!

The Odeon cinema and DVD rental place is great and just across the street is a pretty damn good cukrászda that rivals that of the Daubner in Buda (no joke!).

Favorite restaurant: Well that is a hard one! I guess Pozsonyi vendéglő would have to be the best. However, there is the Firkasz on Tátra utca that is a former journalist hangout. There is a live piano player and a great wine list.

Duna Park is getting better on their menu and there is also a piano player, and card tables to rent to play a good game of poker.

Favorite café: From above. Really, thinking about it, I am happy I work in the center of town because I might just never leave my crib.

Favorite bar: In the district? Well a lot of friends really like the Belgian bar, Mosselen on Pannonia utca because of the beer selection. I don't really drink beer but I can say the atmosphere is pretty cool. But everywhere there are small comfortable cute bars that actually have WIFI in my district. So, it is pretty cool.

Please more podcasts! I'm a big fan, and am missing latest goings on in Budapest and Hungary.
