5 Budapest Shopping Tips

Shopping in Budapest, if you must...

One day I was riding the 4-6 tram on the körút when two Italian girls asked me where they should go shopping in Budapest; I was at a lost for what to tell them. But after thinking about it, I decided to compile my 5 tips for shopping in Budapest, if you need to go holiday shopping or just buy little Hungarian gifts for your family and friends back home.

Fortress of Solitude

Batman has his 'Batcave', Superman his 'Fortress of Solitude', but for me it's the Lukács fürdő.

In winter or summer, early evening or at 6 in the morning, dawn or dusk, rain or shine, the Lukács is my special place to enjoy Budapest's thermal waters and get in my 30 laps, usually a couple of times each week.

Dad does Budapest II

My father visited me here in Budapest a couple of years ago. Now he's threatening it again. Below, you can find a list of the things we tried to do while he was here. It's not a bad itinerary for someone who's just spending a few days here.

Blame it all on Anthony - part one

My dear old dad writes a regular column for our
hometown's weekly. Here is his dispatch from Budapest.

Chillin on the Cheap

Another cool place to beat the heat on a budget! The Pünkösfürdői strand, the cheapest outdoor water park in Budapest opened its doors to the public on July 18th. The strand charges 1000 Ft for adults and only 600 Ft for children, on any day of the week. They also offer a special family ticket - for only 2600 Ft a family of four can enter, which technically means that one child goes in for free.
